A year ago, one of my beagle puppies decided to walk away from house. . She had been in our family for six years and a roommate for our little west highland terrier (Muttley).
At her baptizing we came up with the beagle puppy name Scoobie which was far removed from any other dogs name.Scooobie acted like a bit of a mom hen towards Muttley and looked after her regularly 24 hours a day seven days a week.
It was the saddest I had ever seen Muttley when Scobbied walked out on us with his tail between his legs.It was then I started reading up on beagle dogs and I got as much info as I could about them .It crossed my mind that maybe Muttley would like having another big dog to look after him. It was like looking for the sanctum grail trying to find out where we could get our hands on a wonderful dog.
I truly wanted to be able to go to the breeder to see just what type of a beagle I was getting.Colleagues in the office put in a large amount of time and effort helping me look for breeders.
I was just about prepare to give up when my best friend Barbara helped look in the area she lives and see if there were any stock breeders out her way I live in the city and Barbara lives out in the Country maybe 50 miles, away from me. Also Barbara is very close to Long Island and we know that there were a duet of dog breeders there in Long Island..
Well. Barbara found a stock breeders in her area and made a phone call to the field.That was March 2004 low and behold a litter of pups had been born the day before March 09, 2004. Barbara was truly excited and we couldnt wait to go down and visit the stock breeders.
Well, what a day it was when I first visited a beagle dog , Oh My God, they were so cute I wanted all of them.Two trips later and I was still no nearer to working out which dog would spend the est of his life with me up the road. Fortunately, I didnt have to make a decision as one of the dogs made it for me, this little fellow went straight for my shoes and started to mess with my shoelaces.
On May 10, 2004, Smurf came to his new home and has been such a joy for us and Muttley.
Smurf makes everyone I know so glad with his freewheeling smile and wicked sense of humour.It didnt take long for Smurf to hook up with a new girlfriend so we could well be grandparents in the next few months I cant wait.
