Going Mad From Your Meowing Cat?
Out of all of the problems that your cat can develop, constant meowing has to be one of the most annoying. The sound of a cat meowing can really go straight through you. If you are unsure as to why the cat is meowing, then the problem is often made worse as it tends to get louder the more that they feel they are not being listened to.
However, a cat doesn't just meow to hear themselves. They are trying to get a message across. What is your cat trying to tell you? Well, here are a few things that could be going through their head.
Why Do Cats Meow?
There are a number of reasons why cats meow. Usually it is either when they are hungry or when they want to be let in or out of the home. However, other common reasons include:
1. Attention
2. They are in distress
Did you know your cat has different ways of meowing depending on what they want? It's true just like humans, they have a language all of their own. Depending what they need the tone, pitch, or sound will be different. Like when your feline friend is hungry and is asking to be fed the pitch will be lower. The louder the meow the more demanding your cat is getting. Like, when they're demanding their dinner. Listening to your feline friend and learning their different types of meows will come in handy. This way you know what they are asking for, or if they just don't feel well.
How to Stop Constant Meowing
When your cat meows it's not to irritate you. They need your attention, so ignoring them isn't going to solve anything. Try to figure out their meows. Learn them. To reduce meowing for food. Have a set eating schedule. This way kitty knows when they eat and the won't meow for food at unauthorized times.
After, you know your cat is meowing for food, make sure they have water. If that doesn't do the trick, give them a little attention. Play with them. Your sweet kitty may just be lonely.
Another excellent way to stop constant meowing is installing a cat flap. Most of the time your cat is likely to want to come in, or go out of your home. They often want to go out and then come back in almost straight away. So to save yourself from having to get up every two minutes, installing a cat flap would really help. That way your cat could come and go as it pleases and the meowing would stop.
However, if all this fails to work, take your feline friend to a vet immediately. There may be a health issue causing them discomfort or even pain, and the meowing is a way of telling you something isn't right.
