Fish Oil Is Best For Your Health

    by Michael Byrd

Fish oil supplement is at last getting its long overdue praise and recognition, and beginning to be accepted by the masses. Fish oil is in fact derived from the fat of deep-sea, cold water fish. There are different types of fat, but for the purpose of understanding, let's just say there are two: good fat and bad fat.

Bad fat is the kind you see on the back of that Twinkie pack or potato chip bag that you're so addicted to eating. But believe it or not, there is actually GOOD fat that your body requires and uses to keep your brain and heart healthy. This oil contains some of this good fat, known as Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's). It is not only good but also essential for your health.

There are a couple of healthy fats that you get from fish oil. These fats are linked to brain health, as well as that of the nerves, other organs, and even how flexible your joints are. It might also even help treat arthritis by natural, non-medicated means. But what about consuming actual fish?

Of course, you get omega-3s from eating seafood, but usually, the average American doesn't consume enough of this. So, you should take a fish oil capsule as a supplement, and remember these when you make your purchase.

You simply must buy from a corporation that has a good reputation. Don't be cheap and settle for the most inexpensive non-name-product available.

Some of the less expensive brands may contain dangerous levels of mercury, so be cautious. Make certain that you view the label with care, and don't purchase the product unless the mercury levels are stated low such as 'no mercury' or 'mercury levels below recommended amount', or something like that.

You should explore around and find what works for you as far as price, location, availability, etc. Many of these supplements are relatively inexpensive, may contain enough EFA's for an active person, and are from a reputable supplement company.

Bad fat is what you see listed under 'fat' on the nutrition labels on food in the grocery store. It is usually highest in addictive junk food. Contrary to popular belief, there is actually fat that is good for you, as well. Your body needs it to build and maintain a healthy brain and heart. Fish oil has good fat, called Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids or EFAs. It's essential to good health and for arthritis natural treatments. Some of the cheaper brands may have higher levels of mercury which can also prove to be dangerous, so be careful.
